The ethnobotanical garden is in the Community of turuca, 5kms from Cotacachi. It has a broad ranging diversity of native medicinal plants and herbs, that have been used in traditional remedies and cures for as long as anyone can remember. The visitors can stroll around and become familiar with the plants and their healing powers together with seeging the traditional ecological agricultural system of crop-tending. Various ritual of cleasing are demostrated together with an explanation of the traditional form of midwifery, known as vertical delivery.

The community of Peribuela (2.750masl) is to the NE of Cotacachi volcano in the parish of Imantag. It borders onto the Ecological reserve of Cotacachi - Cayapas, here you can find a primitive native Andean cloud forest, with an extesion of around 1.000hectares. There is community eco-tourism that allows you further savour the beauties of this higly bio-diverse landscape area.

This is a whole wealth of natural resources in the community of Iringuicho, 20 minutes from the centre of the Canton Urcuqui. Here there are sulphur thermal springs that come the nearby volcano Yanahurco. Just an Hour's walk away, also, you can enjoy the amazingly beautiful waterfall of Corayaro a place famous in myths and legends.

Santagua Termas de Chachimbiro, is the main thermal water spa in the North of Ecuador, in the rural parish of Tumbabiro in the canton of Urcuqui. It has a temperate climate with temperatures between 16 and 22 grades during day and 10 at night.
The waters are meso-thermal, that is, with average temperatures between 30 grades and 50, with high sulphate and chloride contents of iron, magnesium, copper, bromide and iodine, among others. These are recommended for treatment of digestive disorders, as stimulants of the cardiovascular system, diuretics and to arouse the central nervous system. They are also recommended for neuralgia, arthritis, rheumatism and for treatment of traumas.
